Call your Congressmember for elections funding
We are running out of time to make the 2020 elections safe.
States must submit their plans by the end of the month in order to secure funding through the CARES Act. CARES Act funding can be used to protect poll workers, protect voters, and maintain the integrity of our elections. But if the matching funds requirement isn’t eliminated, we won’t be able to do any of this.
There were strings attached to the CARES Act elections funding: states are required to match 20% of the money they accept — which means instead of receiving $20,000,000 to protect our elections, New York State will get $0.
Appropriations start in the house, so we need our Members of Congress to step up and remove the matching funds and increase funding.

Use this script: No one should have to choose between their safety and their vote. Senator Schumer needs to act now to eliminate the 20% matching requirement for elections funding in the CARES Act, and increase the funding to 4 billion dollars — with no strings attached — so states can use these urgently needed funds.

No voter should ever feel unsafe when exercising their right to vote and should have full confidence that, no matter how they choose to vote, their ballot will be counted.
Even if you think your representative is good on these issues, they will be stronger as a champion if they know how you feel. Please call your member of congress today.
