SB 524 has passed in the Senate -- so right now, our House Representatives need to hear from us.

Floridians deserve free and fair elections – but our Legislature is fast-tracking legislation we’ve been calling the “Anti-Voter Freedom Act.”

This agenda would create a new law enforcement bureaucracy that’s become known as “Desantis’ Election Police” – which would cost over a million dollars per year and have broad latitude to investigate anything its officers say is related to “election irregularities.” It would also add new duties for Supervisors of Elections and new costs for counties. It makes misdemeanor violations of election laws into felonies – including things like someone taking three friends’ mail ballots to the post office. It also allows the state to impose up to $50,000 in fines on organizations doing voter registration, such as Girl Scout troops and churches.

There’s nothing more fundamental to our ‘government by the people’ than the act of voting – and this legislation will make it more difficult for Floridians to exercise our freedom to vote.
