LOG YOUR CALL: Tell your Representative we deserve fair maps!

On Thursday, March 13th, Representative Torkelson's HF550 will be on the House floor. This bill proposes that our voting maps be drawn by hand-picked political "proxies" to sit on a redistricting commission. This bill fails to put necessary checks and balances in place to ensure no one can influence the people drawing our voting maps. Under HF550, politicians can even pick lobbyists, party hacks, or the chairs of their party to sit and draw maps! None of them are excluded.

Let your Representative know you want a redistricting process and reforms that put us first; not politicians or political parties.

  • We want a citizen-led redistricting commission allowing Minnesotans to participate on the commission not appointees politicians pick.

  • We want a process that maximizes opportunities for transparency and accountability and not one that leaves the door open to have handpicked lobbyists and party hacks to be picked.

  • We want map-drawing criteria that center our interests as Minnesotans, not special interests, political parties, or those favoring incumbents.

  • We want hearings held during dates and times that allow the broader public to attend, not just during the work week and time.

This bill is hitting the floor Thursday, 3/13 at 3:30pm, and we need you to call your Representative to urge them to vote NO on the passage of this bill; tell them that we want reforms that prioritize everyday Minnesotans!

You can find your representative & their phone number by using this tool! Even if your legislator doesn't answer, leave a voicemail!

Once you’re connected, here’s what you could say:

My name is ____________ and I'm a Minnesota resident. I urge you not to support HF550. This redistricting reform does not improve our redistricting process and does not satisfy my concerns about fair voting maps.

I support the With Us, For Us Redistricting Amendment. A bill created with direct input from Minnesotans, like me, across the entire state. Including Minnesotans from various party affiliations, economic backgrounds, and industries.

Thank you for your time. I care deeply about this issue and I look forward to keeping up with bill developments.
