Sign Up: Be a Plaintiff in Our Suit Against the ExpressVote XL
In order for voters to feel confident in our elections, we must have trust in our voting process. And right now, that’s under threat in Nassau County.
New Yorkers currently vote by casting paper ballots, which election security experts consider the gold standard. Paper ballots are easy to read, easy to verify, and always available for audits.
But the Nassau County Board of Elections is considering purchasing the ExpressVote XL, a new touch screen voting machine that would allow voters to mark their ballot electronically.
Since it relies on a machine-generated barcode to count votes which voters can not verify, election security experts have serious concerns regarding the machine’s security and reliability.
At Common Cause New York, we’re fighting to stop the ExpressVote XL. We're filing a lawsuit to protect the right of voters in Nassau County to cast verifiable paper ballots. We can win this, but we need your help.
