Floridians deserve a government that works for all of us

Florida State Legislature

Florida’s new state legislative session only started a few days ago, but we already know that it’ll be one of the most consequential sessions we’ve ever had.

Over the past few weeks of committee hearings and bill proposals, our lawmakers have launched countless attacks on our right to participate in our democracy, including our right to vote -- all while blatantly cutting the public out of the legislative process.

But we’ve fought back -- before the session even started, Common Cause Florida members had already sent almost 5,000 letters to lawmakers, and if we keep it up, we’ll be able to make a real difference this year.

Our democracy belongs to every Floridian, and our legislators need to know that we will not tolerate their vehement, partisan attempts to take our rights away from us >>

Our democracy depends on all Floridians having a voice -- casting a ballot in races that matter to them, speaking up through peaceful protest and ballot initiatives, and testifying on the issues their communities care about most. But if our Legislature attempts to take those rights away from us, like through a crackdown on voting rights or their horrifying anti-protest bill, we have the responsibility to push back and hold them accountable.
