Tell the Senate: Stop foreign interference in our elections

Republican senators

Russia has already begun to interfere in the 2020 election to help get Donald Trump re-elected, the New York Times reported.

Between now and Election Day, these foreign operatives are sure to stoke division by sharing misinformation on Facebook and hack our registration databases, as they’ve done before. But reports also suggest that this year, their attacks may be even more sophisticated -- including interfering with our voting systems directly to keep Trump in office.

And how did Trump respond to this alarming news? By firing the intelligence official who alerted Congress to the threat -- and replacing him with a loyal supporter.

We already know that Russia targeted all 50 states in the 2016 election, successfully infiltrating systems in states like Illinois, Florida, and Arizona. And former Special Counsel Robert Mueller warned the American people last summer that another attack was coming.

But Mitch McConnell and some Republican senators are still blocking the common-sense election security measures that would address this threat. Their inaction is an open invitation to those foreign entities who want to interfere with our elections.

Add your name: the American people -- not Russian hackers -- should be the only ones who decide the outcome of our elections. The Senate must immediately pass strong election security reforms.

The Senate must prioritize defending our elections against foreign threats. Those Republican senators who care about the security of our nation must step up -- and work with their colleagues across the aisle to break through Mitch McConnell’s blockade.
