Join us next Monday, June 29th, at 6:00 pm for a virtual discussion of Slay the Dragon, a documentary film that takes a suitably outraged -- but ultimately optimistic -- look at modern-day gerrymandering, and doubles as a heartfelt call to action. A secretive, high-tech gerrymandering initiative launched 10 years ago threatens to undermine our democracy. Slay the Dragon follows everyday people as they fight to make their votes matter.
- You will have access to watch the film at your leisure over the weekend, after you RSVP we will share the link with you to watch the film for free.
- On Monday, we will have a discussion on current efforts to end gerrymandering and bring independent, citizen-led redistricting to Onondaga County this year.
This is a timely film: Common Cause New York has been working for over 2 years with partners in Onondaga County to reform the way local districts are drawn, and the County Legislature will vote on it July 7. This is our last chance to get this right in time for post-census redistricting — otherwise we will have to wait another ten years to get fair districts in Onondaga County.
Please watch the film, join us for this discussion, and then plug in for our final week of action to end gerrymandering in Onondaga County.
