Preserve Nebraska's Electoral Advantage
The Nebraska State Legislature
Our elections should represent the will of the people, not party interests. Nebraska’s method of splitting electoral votes by congressional district does a better job of representing our state’s character and voters than a return to winner-take-all ever could.

For years, partisan interests in Nebraska have pushed the narrative that returning us to winner-take-all presidential elections will better represent the voice of our state. But that’s simply not the case.
By allowing each congressional district to cast an electoral vote for the candidate of their choice, our current system gives meaning to more of our votes.
And it encourages presidential candidates to work harder for Nebraskans’ votes. With candidates ignoring most neighboring Midwest states in favor of battlegrounds, the ability to win individual districts in Nebraska means we remain voters worth courting.
Let us be clear: Nebraskans like how we divide electoral votes. We oppose a return to winner-take-all elections, which only serve the partisan interests that profit the most from controlling our votes.
