Stop letting candidates who lose the popular vote win the presidency
State legislatures
Nearly 2 in 3 Americans support our efforts to fix the broken Electoral College and elect the president by popular vote. [1]
And it’s no mystery why – every presidential election, we see the same problems:
-
Candidates spend almost all of their time campaigning in just a handful of battleground states
-
They ignore voters everywhere else – and don’t have much reason to try and win their votes
-
Plus, there’s the ever-present risk of the candidate who loses the popular vote winning the presidency – like they did in 2000 and 2016
That’s not what democracy for the people is about. Giving some Americans’ voices more weight than others is just plain wrong.
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPV) would ensure that all our votes count equally when picking our next president – and that the candidate who gets the most votes always wins the presidency. Add your name to tell states to sign on.

We urge states across the country to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact – and stop letting candidates who lose the popular vote win the presidency.
