Tell Congress: We demand independent redistricting
U.S. Congress

Common Cause’s new poll makes it clear – Americans know our redistricting system is broken and are demanding bold reform: [1]
-
Over 2 out of every 3 American voters say it’s bad for the country when one party controls how voting maps are drawn.
-
More than 3 out of every 4 voters want independent citizen commissions – NOT self-serving politicians – to draw our voting maps.
-
And 2 out of every 3 voters – including a majority of Republicans and Independents – want Congress to take redistricting OUT of politicians’ hands nationwide by passing laws to ban gerrymandering and mid-decade redistricting.
Voters across the spectrum agree: gerrymandering has to end. [2] But Congress keeps turning its back on the people – stalling on reforms, enabling Trump’s mid-decade redistricting scheme, and letting state politicians run wild and rig maps to entrench their power.
This is a crisis for our democracy, but also an opportunity.
We need to make it clear to the White House and Republicans in Congress that an overwhelming majority of Americans – including their own voters – are demanding fair maps now. Add your name to the petition today.

New polling confirms that most Americans are demanding an END to politicians getting to draw their own voting maps.
2 in 3 voters – including a majority of Republicans and Independents – support a nationwide ban on gerrymandering and mid-decade redistricting.
Congress must listen to the people and take redistricting out of politicians’ hands.
